What Does It Cost?
A. Comprehensive, Ongoing Counseling for students beginning the college search process during sophomore or junior years. The fee of $3,000 is payable in three installments, as follows: $1,000, as a retainer, payable in advance or at initial session; $1,000 payable July 1 of senior year; $1,000 payable September 15 of senior year.
Includes:
- Initial parents' consultation (without obligation or charge if you decide not to continue)
- Initial student session: review of academic and extracurricular record, discussion of career interests and college preferences
- Written report assessing factors influencing student's college search, detailing initial list of colleges, and setting up timetable for standardized tests; advice concerning high school course selection and summer activities, as appropriate
- Follow-up student session: review of above report; discussion about visiting colleges
- Follow-up review, in person or by telephone, with parents
- Advice concerning applying for financial aid and merit scholarships
- Unlimited follow-up consultations, in person or by telephone or email, with student and parents through junior year to discuss academic progress, standardized testing, campus visits, next year's course selection, summer activities, evolving college list
- At the beginning of the summer before senior year: detailed review of college list; discussion of interviewing; advice concerning teacher recommendations; on-going review of academic progress, standardized tests, campus visits
- During the summer before senior year: unlimited sessions to work on drafts of application essays so that essays are substantially finished by September
- During senior year: unlimited consultations, in person or by telephone or email, with student and parents to discuss colleges and to complete essays and application forms
- Advice concerning applying Early Decision
- Monitoring of timetable to assure the meeting of all deadlines
- Advice concerning deciding among offers of admission
B. Service for Seniors for students beginning after June 1 of junior year. The fee of $2,400 is payable in two installments, as follows: $1,200 payable in advance or at initial session; $1,200 payable October 1.
Includes all of the above.
C . Abbreviated Service for Seniors for students who know where they want to apply but who need help with the application process. Parents may elect one or two installments, as necessary. The fee for the initial review is $800, payable in advance or at the initial session; a further fee of $800 is due if the student continues with unlimited sessions.
Initial review includes:
- Student session to review academic and extracurricular records and the college list; discussion of plans for taking standardized tests, asking teachers for recommendations, and applying Early Decision; initial discussion of essays
- Two follow-up sessions to review drafts of application essays and/or application forms
Continuing unlimited counseling includes:
- Unlimited further sessions to complete essays and application forms
- Unlimited consultations, in person or by telephone or email, with parents to discuss the application process
- Monitoring of timetable to assure the meeting of all deadlines
